This is here to bring detail to projects, releases, and posts that isn’t always easily done when livestreaming or in social media posts. No social media site is really pre-eminent right now and each has short-comings that leave me wanting more. Now I can get interesting things out to anyone who’s curious.

Ok that was the why, now how is this made?
I mentioned working on this website a few times in my last several Twitch livestreams. When asked what I was making it in the quick answer was React and Vite.

Now for the part that takes a bit too long to explain over the mic in a DJ set. 🎤🎶 React is not the most efficient tool for a small website like this. Its a bit like using an sledge-hammer to put in a thumbtack. Its made for large commercial websites with thousands of pages and large moving datasets. But it is the most efficient tool for my purposes which was learning another technology while putting together this whole thing, instead of just handcoding something basic. I figure why not make it look pretty (vite helps here), learn something, AND make a website.

Oh yes, and this blog part is done in WordPress. Another technology to gain experience with.

LLMs and AI content

I have a balanced approach to generated content. For me its a ‘generative AI’ is a tool, and not the expression of what I want to put out in the world. So I do like using various LLMs for generating ideas, editing for mistakes, long repetitive formatting tasks and the like. When it comes to the art, design, and actual words I want them to be my own.

This website is an example of this. The idea of what framework to use came from querys into chatGPT about types of web technologies that were being used along with examples of those technologies. From there I chose which way to go, had some templates made, and had the llm suggest software, plugins, and help pages to get started editing. That was a great help since starting out with a whole new framework can take a lot of legwork before you even get to editing a site.

So rest assured this website won’t be just another outlet for auto generated copy and paste.

I thought you were a livestreamer!

DJ livestreamers are a relatively new thing, that I believe is a big piece of the future of music that we all love. DJ livestreamers however do often have a challenge expanding beyond the limited bounds that club and underground DJs have lived within before this. Being limited to a few minutes on the mic and song mixing as the only expression and connection with the audience.

Livestreaming however we have the chance.. the opportunity to be so much more than that. Its the challenge and the fun of doing this, that I’m DJ, tech guy, sound guy, lights guy, graphics guy.. AND keep up a conversation with the sometimes hundreds of people in my audience all at the same time. Thats such a rush! Some DJs turn their streams into what I call ‘chat with music’ streams to grow. Its often successful but not the way I want to go. So this website and blog becomes a way I can have more detailed posts on the topics at hand than when I’m dealing with all the above at the same time.
