New mix is up.

Trance, EDM, and Underground Late Night livestream 🎢🎡 Mixed by Mystixa, July 05 2025

Just put up a new video over on Youtube. Its the full livestream mix from July 5th of this year. It takes me quite a bit of time to get these out there, as I don’t like to just upload an unedited Twitch livestream to Youtube and call it good.

No social media or streaming platform is the same as any other. Twitch is is famously, (or infamously if you lucked into the wrong livestream your 1st time) special due to the chat and the connection between the streamer and viewers. Over time doing this you get to hang out and interact with performers, streamers, and fans much more than if I was playing in a club or bar somewhere. Mostly DJs just fade into the background and play at a bar, or at a festival they perch above and wave but still there isn’t much acknowledgement or interaction with anyone in the audience.

What I try to do is have a balance between the livestream experience and editing the vid for standing on its own over on Youtube without feeling too lost as a viewer. So I add little text bubbles with explanations of some things that are going on, like when I mention something to the chat or a Twitch specific interaction comes onscreen. There are traditions around acknowledging the fans that pay the bills, other streamers as they come by and things like that. Sometimes I shorten those up as I don’t think they make a perfect fit over on YT imo.

Making it big on YT?

Heh no probably not. There is a lot of music mixes there, these vids don’t play well with the algorithms, and since they are hours long DJ mixes they will never be monetizable for my channel. No these vids aren’t about that. They’re about sharing the music I’ve found and I love with as many who want it as I can. Sometimes I stream at a weird time or maybe one of my fans (odd to say for myself… but yea) of what I do had to miss for whatever reason. So they can catch up with some of my past shows this was as well.

Note that its near impossible for a channel to get monetized doing DJ mixes. We only get to broadcast from Twitch by paying hefty licensing fees. Even if you could, when whenever their system detects a song through their version of Shazam 1/2 the ad revenue goes to that producer. Get a few recognized songs in there and any revenue for the channel quickly goes to zero. So its almost always a label or artist playing their limited catalog or the vid is done as a passion project.

I have been asked if I’d put up other types of vids like tutorials and things. The more typical kind of fare that the algorithm finds so tasty. Adding another project to the pile! But I would like to sometime. Perhaps these mix vids will be a good thing for introducing viewers to those when/if they come out in the future as well. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

So vods then?

Essentially yes.

Thing is the DJ program on Twitch is excellent because we can play most of what we want, but there are downsides as well. Of course there is the expense, as we pay an addition 30% in fees beyond what streamers in other categories do, but also we don’t get to store vods with Twitch either. So braving a whole other copywrite system and uploading vids to Twitch is one of few ways to get a DJ mix out to people these days.

Supporting the channel

Since it takes me a while to get these edited and uploaded I don’t do all my livestreams as YT vids. Thats over 350 shows! ..and that would take a while to render even on MY desktop πŸ˜…. So when a subscriber or VIP on my Twitch channel really loves the night and requests be put up, thats how most of them get decided on.

If you’d like to support what I do and even encourage me to upload more you can throw a tip my way here on my Streamelements page:

Or come on over to one of my streams while I’m playing and say hello, feel free to mention you saw this post and/or the YT videos. Its always interesting to know how people found the stream.

Enjoy!
